Apostle of the Rosary: Blessed Bartolo Longo
Fascinating life of an amazing layman!
Born in 1841, Bartolo was a restless soul searching for truth. Caught up in the tide of liberalism sweeping through the universities at the time, he turned to the occult until a devout friend changed the course of his life. Fearing for his salvation, Bartolo vowed to promote the Rosary in an obscure Italian village. However, with God’s grace, his small initiative grew to become a world-famous shrine (Our Lady of the Rosary at Pompeii) and a city devoted to charitable work.
