God’s Country: A Way to Bring the Family Together
Jim, Margaret, Spencer, Jared Baugh
Hello. We are the Baugh Family from Jasper, IN. We had known about God’s Country through friends at church, but never took time to visit the grounds until recently. Margaret had a friend who attended the 2013 Women’s Retreat. She was going on and on about how beautiful and peaceful it was, even during the winter time. We were even invited by some friends to attend a Friday night event last year, but didn’t take the time to drive over. We thought that the kids wouldn’t find it interesting enough going to a “church like” event on Friday night.
Time passed and one thing led to another. Margaret met Mark at the America Needs Fatima Rosary Rally. I enjoyed listening to Mark’s depth of history concerning the rosary. My wife had known of his knowledge of the Church and its teachings from a panel discussion she attended earlier that Spring. Mark and others kept asking us to attend the “All Saints’ Day Party and Fall Family Fest” in October. We carved out the time and made the kids’ costumes. They were so excited to attend the party!
“You just have to come out and see for yourself what God’s Country has to offer your family and your soul.”
When we arrived we saw this wide open area with God’s beauty everywhere. The kids loved the horses, Rosary trail, carved statues, Jesus’s tomb, and Saints’ Day activities. When we asked my oldest son what he liked about the day, his initial comment was, “The food was amazing!” They both want to come back. My youngest especially loved riding the horses. Margaret & I found that it was a peaceful place with lots of great scenery to enjoy. There is so much more to tell, but you just have to come out and see for yourself what God’s Country has to offer your family and your soul.
“Through meeting Mark and visiting God’s Country, we all now pray as a family before we put our boys to bed at night.”
We definitely felt a spiritual presence with the scenery and surroundings. There were a lot of new people from around the area whom we met that day. Through meeting Mark and visiting God’s Country, we all now pray as a family before we put our boys to bed at night. The boys do remind us if we forget to say our nightly prayers. They also tell us their prayer intentions. This also reinforces how prayer is so powerful. If you are looking to get away from it all, God’s Country is that place. If you are looking for a way to bring the family together, God’s Country is that way. Take the time to experience God in nature in a very spiritual atmosphere.
